About Turtle Mist Farm

Bob and Ginger Sykes moved to North Carolina from Maryland and started their farm in 2005 after working for more than 30 years in corporate America. Summers spent on a great-uncle's farm in Indiana fostered a long-time dream of Bob's to have a small farm. As a young man Bob read "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson, and "The Population Bomb" by Paul Ehrlich, causing him to be very sensitive to environmental issues, especially the use of pesticides.

Turtle Mist Farm is a small farm using sustainable farming principles to produce a variety of vegetables, pasture raised laying chickens, turkeys, Muscovy ducks, grass fed and finished sheep and beef cattle.

Prior to becoming a farm, our property was a rural amusement park known as ARKLAND, and most recently was a horse boarding facility which also hosted bull-riding rodeos. Our goal for the property is to share our love of nature with others and to teach children where eggs and steak really come from. We produce hormone and antibiotic–free beef & lamb, and our vegetables are produced without the use of artificial pesticides or herbicides. We sell our meat and produce from our on-site farm store.

Store Hours:

Hours of operation vary with the availability of produce, meat & eggs. Please call ahead – 919-457-2942. We also sell our products at the Wake Forest Farmers' Market.
