About

About us.

In 2007 Bob and Ginger Sykes formed Turtle Mist Farm in Franklinton, North Carolina. In 2022 Bob passed away and Ginger made arrangements to sell the farm. Most of the animals and equipment were sold. However, the stars had a
different plan so Ginger kept the property. She is now in the process of rebuilding the farm with the help of her daughter Stephanie, Granddaughter Malia and great-grandsons Gavin
and Zachary.

The plan is to continue the same sustainable practices as before. That is, raising all of our animals without hormones or antibiotics and no synthetic herbicides or pesticides in the
garden. All animals are raised on pastures. The males and Females are always together so mother nature is responsible for providing the farm with more animals without intervention from us.

Our goal for the property is to share our love of nature with others and to teach children where their food actually comes from. That food does not originate in the store. We produce hormone and antibiotic free beef, pork, lamb and poultry.
Although we are primarily meat farmers we also have a market garden where we grow a variety of unique vegetables which are produced without the use of artificial pesticides or herbicides.

At Turtle Mist Farm we’ve chosen to raise mostly heritage breeds. Currently, we have Kathadin hair sheep; Amerucana & Cuckoo Maran chickens; Santa Gertrudis, Beefmaster and Angus cattle and our pigs are Berkshire & Duroc. We are
looking to add Ossabaw, Meishan and Tamworth pigs and Gelbveih cattle.
